A construction worker sustained serious internal injuries when he slipped and fell backwards on a steel rod that was used in the packaging of devices known as Megalugs. The rod perforated the plaintiff's bowel, causing serious and permanent injuries.
The Beltz firm pursued a products liability case against EBAA Iron, the manufacturer, based on defective packaging in light of safer feasible alternatives that were available and would have prevented the injury.
During trial the manufacturer agreed to provide a cash settlement of $1.8 million.
